Where is my data?

On your phone, and only there. Hopwatch has no account and no server. Your jellies, entries and settings live in a small database inside the app. If your phone backs up to iCloud or Google, that backup includes Hopwatch. More in the privacy policy.

How do I move to a new phone?

If you set up the new phone from a backup of the old one, Hopwatch comes along with everything. To move it by hand:

  1. On the old phone, open the Stuff tab, tap the gear for Settings, then Export JSON. Save the file somewhere the new phone can reach, like iCloud Drive, AirDrop or an email to yourself.
  2. On the new phone, install Hopwatch and make a first jelly, any jelly. Then open Settings the same way, tap Restore from Export and pick the file.

Restoring replaces everything on that phone, including the jelly you just made. Hopwatch tells you how many jellies and entries the file has and asks before it does anything.

What does Apple Intelligence do, and do I need it?

You don't need it. On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on, Hopwatch uses Apple's on-device model to:

It all runs on your iPhone, and nothing is sent anywhere. Without it, on older iPhones, on Android or with Apple Intelligence turned off, jellies get their looks from their names and emoji, and everything else works the same. It needs iOS 26 or later and an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence. Settings › Apple Intelligence in Hopwatch shows whether it's ready.

How do Live Activities work?

On iPhone, the running jelly shows up on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island with a live timer. Tap Stop or Back to, and Hopwatch opens and does it. The Live Activity starts and ends with the running jelly.

iOS ends a Live Activity after 8 hours. Hopwatch brings it back the next time you open the app. To turn Live Activities off, open the Settings app and go to Apps › Hopwatch › Live Activities.

How do I delete everything?

Open Stuff, tap the gear and choose Erase All Data. Every jelly and entry is gone right away. There's nothing to delete on a server, because there is no server. Deleting the app does the same.

Older iCloud or Google backups of your phone may still hold a copy until they're replaced. If you'd like to keep a copy first, use Export JSON.
